Famous Toastery’s First Franchisee Signs Five-Store Agreement with Growing Better Breakfast Brand
Jason Serkin, Famous Toastery’s first franchisee, is helping the brand grow throughout the Southeast.

When it comes to finding the best breakfast and brunch in the Southeast, there’s only one place to go: Famous Toastery. The leading better breakfast brand is rapidly expanding across its home region—franchisees are signing on to open their own Famous Toastery restaurants at record rates.

One of those local business owners is Jason Serkin—in fact, he’s the brand’s first multi-unit franchisee. And he was recently inspired to sign a five-store agreement with the brand. Today, Serkin has three Famous Toastery restaurants open throughout South Carolina.

“I’ve always been a big fan of Famous Toastery’s food—everything is fresh and made in-house daily. That’s not something every restaurant can say,” said Serkin. “I ultimately decided to grow with the brand over other opportunities because there’s a real need for it across the Carolinas. There’s nothing else out there like it, and consumers are looking for a better place to enjoy the most important meal of the day.”

When Serkin and his wife, Michele, moved to South Carolina, the couple was disappointed to discover the lack of quality breakfast options in the area. So, they decided to be a part of the solution, opening the first-ever Famous Toastery franchise. This was back in 2014, and within six months, the franchisees had made $900,000. That experience, coupled with the obvious demand for a better-breakfast concept, ultimately inspired Serkin to continue investing in the brand—again and again. Today, he’s single handedly growing the brand throughout South Carolina.

Famous Toastery stands out in the restaurant industry because its entire concept is unique. The brand only serves the best quality food—it even flies in fresh lobster to its locations every single day. Customer service is also superior at Famous Toastery restaurants. The brand operates under the rule that every server is your server, meaning customers aren’t limited to one specific waiter, host or manager.

“Everything we do at Famous Toastery is to enhance our customers’ overall experience. From our food to our service, we’re 100 percent committed to making this the brand to beat in the highly competitive better breakfast space,” Serkin said.

In order to maintain its position as an industry leader and continue redefining what it means to serve better breakfast, Famous Toastery is working with franchisees like Serkin to open up new locations. And more local owners are hopping on board to develop the Famous Toastery brand not just in the Southeast, but across the country.

This five-store franchise agreement with Serkin comes after a momentous 2016 for the brand. Famous Toastery began the year landing on CNBC’s list of the top six food franchises in America. They’ve consistently won best breakfast and brunch awards in their hometown market, Charlotte, North Carolina, since the brand’s inception more than a decade ago. And to date, they boast 19 locations throughout the Southeast. And the brand is also on the cusp of celebrating another important milestone—Famous Toastery will have 30 locations open by the end of 2017.

Famous Toastery opened their very first Florida location in Jacksonville Beach. New restaurants are also in the pipeline for Philadelphia, New York and Virginia. The remaining new development will be scattered throughout South Carolina and North Carolina—most recently, a multi-unit franchisee signed on for 10 restaurants in Asheville, Greensboro, Raleigh-Durham and Savannah.

“We’re experiencing explosive growth right now—it’s definitely an amazing time to be a part of the Famous Toastery brand,” said Robert Maynard, founder and CEO of Famous Toastery. “We’re excited to continue working with franchisees like Serkin who share our passion for bringing our better breakfast concept to new communities all over the United States.”
